What We Believe

The Scriptures

We believe that the full and final authority rests in the Scriptures. We believe that the Old and New Testaments are the inspired revelation of God's truth to man. We believe they are completely trustworthy and the only infallible rule for faith and practice.

1 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21

God

We believe that there is only one living and true God, who is the Creator, Redeemer, and Ruler of the universe.

Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 44:24

The Trinity

We believe in the Trinity: that God, being one Being, eternally exists in three coequal and coeternal Persons — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are one God, possessing the same nature, attributes, and perfection; and all three are worthy of the same homage, trust, and obedience.

Matthew 28:19-20; John 1:1; John 14:6-17; Colossians 1:13-19; Hebrews 1:1-3

Humanity

We believe that man was originally created in the image of God to worship, serve, and enjoy God in His creation. We believe that through man's sin — which was disobedience to God — humanity fell from this high calling. The result of this fall has been passed on to all people everywhere, with the exception of the man Jesus Christ, so that all of humanity is alienated from God and in need of saving grace.
Genesis 1:26-28; Psalm 8; Romans 1:18 and 3:23; Ephesians 2:1-3

Jesus

We believe that Jesus, being the second person of the Trinity, is the eternal Son of God the Father who became incarnate to reveal God the Father to humanity and to reconcile people to God the Father. We believe in the historical fact that He was born of the virgin Mary, lived on the earth, was crucified and buried, rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven.
John 1:1-14; Colossians 1:13-19; Acts 2:22-36; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:8-12

Salvation

We believe that salvation for humanity has been provided through the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ, who died as our substitute, shedding His blood for the remission of our sins. Salvation is received by faith, and those who trust in Christ as Lord and Savior will receive forgiveness for all their sins and pass from spiritual death into eternal life.
John 3:1-18; Romans 5:1-21; Ephesians 2:4-10; Colossians 1:11; Titus 3:4-7; 1 Peter 1:18-23

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit, being the third person of the Trinity, affirms and assures a person that they have received what Jesus accomplished for them through His life, death, and resurrection. We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells in and helps the person who has been born again to live according to the will of God the Father.

Romans 8:16; 1 Corinthians 6:1; John 14:26

The Church

We believe that Christ instituted, defined, and is the head of the true Church, which is composed of all who have received the salvation He offers through faith. We believe that the Holy Spirit baptizes all believers into one Body, equipping the Church with the gifts and callings necessary for its work. We believe that the purpose of church gatherings is to equip God's people for works of service and to build up the Body of Christ.
Colossians 1:18-20; Romans 12:4-19; 1 Corinthians 12:1-27; Ephesians 4:1-16

The Return of Christ

We believe in the return, or second physical coming, of Christ from heaven, at which time Christ will judge the world with the authority given to Him by the Father. We believe that the redeemed — those who received by faith the salvation Christ offers — will be with God eternally. We believe that the unbelievers — those who did not receive by faith the salvation Christ offers — will be eternally separated from God.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18; John 5:26-30; John 3:3 and 16; Matthew 13:36-43

Baptism

We believe that water baptism is a command from our Lord Jesus Christ for every person who has received the salvation He offers by His grace. We do not believe that water baptism is necessary to receive the salvation Jesus offers, but rather that it is a public demonstration of one's understanding and belief in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We practice full immersion in water for baptisms.
Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 10:47-48

The Lord's Supper

We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Jesus for all who have received salvation by the faith that He Himself offers. We believe that every time we share in the Lord’s Supper, we are remembering and honoring Jesus for His sacrifice and what it means for us who have received salvation.
1 Corinthians 11:23-29

Marriage

We believe that God instituted and defined marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman. We believe that marriage is a picture of the relationship between Christ and the Church, and that the relationship between husband and wife should reflect the covenant relationship between Christ and the Church.
Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:3-11; Ephesians 5:22-33
